Once again the VQS surf series came together at Gunnamatta Beach. Over 100 frothing kids from all over Victoria showed up at 2nd car park ready to show their talent in sloppy 4ft surf. The weather did not go our way we had planned. Rain, strong winds from the south it was almost impossible to set up for the event. We saw how keen those competitors where to surf, we knew we had to make it happen. Local legend Selim drew up the heat draw and we got things under way.
Girls Final
There were still some contestable waves on the day. The Girls Final went off with some big scores. Zoe Clarke from Jan Juc was a stand out, she was posting some huge scores through out her heats. This consistence saw her take out the girls final, she started off with a 7.point ride then found an 8.0 point ride. Matilda McLellan answered back with a strong six but it was not enough to take the win from Zoe. Tobby Volker took third and rounding of that final was Piner Harrison in 4th place.

Groms Final
Every year the grom division seems to get better and better. All the Groms seemed eager to take home the first place trophy and bragging rights at their local hang out spot. Taking top honors was Noah Cooney from the underdog Cody Robinson. Cooney was shredding and left Robinson in second position. Taking third spot was Harry Deroth who came so close to taking top spot himself. Sam Dunlop struggled to find that one high scoring ride so had to settle for 4th spot in the final . Keep ripping Grom’s! Hope to see you all at the VQS Champs in Manly.
