Volcom Photographer Andrew Mapstone has been all over the world shooting some of the games most talented and wild skaters. Andrew has been kind enough to open his volt of pictures he has collected over the years. This is some-what of an insight into the people and times he shared on the road, with some of skateboardings most influential and sought after people. Sometimes sad, sometimes rude and always skateboarding. these are the images most never see, and a side of the skaters only friends know. In this first instalation, Andrew shows us images from the Flip team, years before Bastien left skateboarding to persue a career in music.
Hello all, I feel as if I have been to hell and back in this crazy world of skateboarding… Lucky to be alive and still kicking after so many years on the front line, shooting skating and battling through life. After 20 years of travel in the skateboarding game, I have settled back home in Melbourne Australia. Thinking I was safe at home I couldn’t have been more wrong. Now with a wife and 2 young boys, the punches just keep on coming. I was once a pro skateboarder then a pro photographer, now I am just an amateur of life… As a part of the Volcom family I will be showing you some of what I have seen in the past, the present and maybe the future, if I make it that far… Enjoy, and thank you for your time.
