Arthur Longo is a transition specialist, the bigger the tranny, the better.. When Terje himself says "Arthur is one of the guys I look to for speed and amplitude during Quarter pipe events" you know you're doing something right. Terje should be a TM, cause Arthur said "thanks for the props" and went on to win The Arctic Challenge, back in 2009… Then, year after year Arthur has been stepping up his game with killer parts in the Pirate Films "Hooked" (2010), "Bottom Line" (2011) and the stellar opening part of "Unique8" (2012). Lately though, its been all about pipes for Arthur, who has his eyes set on the 2014 Sotchi Olympics… With an insane run at the 2013 Euro X-Games in Tignes that earned him 2nd place, this uncharacteristic frenchie is already qualified for the No-Rainbow Games. Go Arthur!

What was your first snowboard?

The first one I can recall is a Nitro 114 that I still have in my garage. I just had a look at it, it's funny it's way stiffer than the boards I use now.

What was your first snowboard movie that got you hooked?

It's either TB4 either Subject Haakonsen but I'm probably mixing up the years I was really young. I watched Terje's movie again lately... Still amazing!

Scariest moment of the season?

I fell on my back last summer in New Zealand. I was riding the pipe and made a mistake, went off the coping then back into the icy wall straight on my back. It's of course scary to fall so hard on your bones, one was broken by the way.

Best trip?

Two seasons ago I went to Haines in Alaska to shoot some lines in those big mountains. I stayed up there for 5 weeks at the end of the contest season, it was awesome to be in a complete different world for quite some time. Everything was new for me, learning how to ride those lines, learning to be patient for the weather, discovering the wild life... It was such a good experience with some amazing people. My goal is to go back there as soon as I get the chance.

One item you always have in your snowboard pants?

As a typical French man I used to have French snacks (ciggies) everywhere I was going to but I got rid of them lately. I don't need much to snowboard... Maybe my phone so I can capture some good times...

Besides snowboarding?

There's too many things I feel I don't have time to do. I go thru phases, right now I take pictures and start to draw stuff. I love doing sport in general, surf, skate, soccer, anything... I love to hang with my friends and I love going to concerts.

Future plans?

I kinda planned my time towards the next Olypics for about a year now. I want to do good there. When this is over I'll go back to filming and to some more creative projects...

CABOOSTA GONDOLA… A short, documented, derailed track through the Alps following Volcom family Arthur Longo, Mike Ravelson and Olivier Gittler as they slide through the cities and mountain ranges of Switzerland and Austria, letting the railroad dictate the roadmap. Would you travel across the Atlantic to jump on the train with your buds and enjoy this view? Rhetorical… Ok, ok, we get it! Arthur likes to be high! Arthur and Rav with the 6-wheel stroll prior to boarding the train It takes 2 people to capture 1 shot. Rav with a European plant as documented by the one and only, Seth Huot. It wasn’t all snowboarding on this trip. As you can see, Arthur decided to pass on flying the drone and took to the sky himself. Mike Ravelson throwing down some tricks in the bowl

LONGO, HAAKONSEN AND FRIENDS IN OLIVIER GITTLER’S INTROSPECTION
OLIVIER IS A MAN OF MANY TALENTS. AT RIDING HIS SNOWBOARD, FILMING, EDITING, MAKING MUSIC, OR CELEBRATING LIFE, HE CONSTANTLY EXCELS. Oh, Oli's also the reigning Quarter Pipe World Champion, although he'll never admit to it. It’s no secret that a 30-second Instagram clip is usually a condensed version of a week-long trip around the world to document a specific goal. Whether it's a trick for a video part, a photo for the mags, field testing product, or any other reason to chase a winter storm. But, what about all the shenanigans in between? From airplanes to rental cars, hotel rooms to summits, and everything in between, sometimes the moments that define these trips are caught in-between takes. Volcom ambassador Olivier Gittler, with his strong appreciation for behind-the-scenes footage, put together this unique look at a season untold with Arthur Longo, Terje Haakonsen and friends.  "IT’S WHAT WE LOVE TO DO.
