Volcom X Hotel Steyne Riders Week - Day 1 & 2 Photo Gallery
Monday saw the beginning of the Volcom X Hotel Steyne Riders week. The fun kicked off with the legendary Ozzie Wright showing off his skills on the spray cans. He was posted up above the courtyard spray painting a live mural on a row boat for the keen crowd to enjoy. The pool room was emptied for the crazy talented Gemma O'Brien to work her magic, painting a huge mural that wrapped the walls of the room. The skate ramp is set up and a couple of our team riders Dane Burman, Jackson Pilz & Shane Azar showed their skills for the crowd to enjoy. Nightly Quick Trivia hosted by MC Azar saw some lucky guests walk home with free gear to keep the stoke levels high. Tuesday saw all the Volcom team back down their to watch Gemma O'Brien put the finishing touches on her amazing Mural in the Pool Room. Meanwhile in the courtyard Anthony Lister busted out the spray cans to paint a live mural for the onlookers to enjoy. We saw lots of little legends showing their talents on the mini ramp, team rider and legend Dane Burman even jumped on the ramp to roll with them and no doubt make their day. The team will be back down there again tonight for a big night of events! Check out the schedule here!

Indonesia Delivers For Volcom Surf Team In Episode 1
Indonesia. Always a sought-after destination for good waves and good times. Cliche? Of course. But who cares. It's on the list of favorite surf destinations for many, and for good reason. The place delivers! So we decided to take a bunch of dudes from the Volcom Surf Team to venture around the Mentawais to rip some waves, get tubbed, have some beers, share (and create) stories, and, to be honest, we wanted to get some photos of them in our new boardshorts. Luckily for us, we scored a ton of epic footage so we decided to make this video. Check it out above, and learn more about the trip below! MEET THE DUDES... YAGO DORA RYAN BURCH MITCH COLEBORN OZZIE WRONG PAT SCHMIDT CHARLY QUIVRONT PHOTOS BY TOM CAREY "After 15 years of sketchy boat trips and Indonesian white-knuckle adventures, we finally had a swell forecast that was too good to be true. Usually you line these trips up months in advance, juggling surfers’ contest schedules, and all sorts of other bullshit, and end up getting what you get. Which isn’t always good. So, to luck into a forecast like ours takes more than a decade of trying. Literally. I would know." -Tom Burch floating on his sled "Gotta support the team." Mitch and Ozzie fully support Yago's decision to burn them. Sharing is caring. Pat and Ozzie prefer frontside tubes. "Waves aren't usually the problem on boat trips. It's the people on them and how they mesh together... Luckily for us we had the biggest animals ever on our boat... As long as the vibe stays at optimum levels, a little flat spell or some rough seas can't spoil your fun." -Tom Ozzie tweak "Charly was the lone Frenchman of the trip... I think he was psyched to hang out with some of the older crew like Ozzie and Mitch." -Tom "If you're on a boat and you see an ink stamp that says "too fast for Satan," "aliens were here," "don't be frightened you're enlightened," "shoot rainbows into fascism," or "may peace be in your eyes," it was stamped there by me." -Ozzie Mitch rockin' a pair of his new favorite boardies, the Polka Stoneys "Burch is also real... He speaks his mind and has this laugh that is so contagious. It sounds like Lewis Skolnik from Revenge of the Nerds." -Tom Pat Schmidt. "I love the way guys from Jersey surf. There's a different approach to their power surfing that is unparalleled." -Tom "Ozzie is like the king's jester on these trips - he's always making sure everyone's having the best time." -Tom   "Yago is the water baby. You have to drag him out by the hair. But his surf psyche also rubs off on everyone." -Tom "The best thing to do [on boat trips] is bring Ozzie Wright. He basically turned his room into an art studio. We watched him paint and he played his ukulele and kazoo the whole trip. He had everyone in stitches." -Mitch"The best thing to do [on boat trips] is bring Ozzie Wright. He basically turned his room into an art studio. We watched him paint and he played his ukulele and kazoo the whole trip. He had everyone in stitches." -Mitch "I think Mitch put back the most beers, making his Aussie brethren proud. I got tackled four times by him breaking a chair each time. The security cameras on the boat are holding some gold." -Tom "Good Time Charly" "Pat Schmidt was one of the groms of the trip. He was so psyched to be out there. That’s the type of person you need on a trip. Someone that is just happy to be drinking beers, lighting fireworks and listening to some tunes." -Tom "He [Ozzie] has been going out to the Ments for longer than any surfer. His experience ends up rubbing off on everyone else. Arts and crafts time usually gets extended a few hours when he’s around." -Tom Yago loves to skate. He grew up in Brazil with Volcom Skate Team rider Pedro Barros, and if you watch their techniques and approaches, their styles are heavily influenced by each other's sport. Watch an extended piece on Yago and Pedro's love for both surfing and skating HERE. Burch on a self-made surf craft "This was a last minute trip for me, I only knew about it 48 hours before I left. This was also my first time going on a boat for that long, and I wasn't prepared at all. Luckily, the boys had all sorts of things to occupy our time." -Charly "Mitch will be out there when he sees his perfect window and he goes for broke. He doesn’t hold back. I think that’s why we all love the 'Spawn.'" -Tom New Jersey's Pat Schmidt trying to soak up some sun before heading back to the dreary winter season on the East Coast. Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie "He [Yago] is the one pushing the boundaries on every trip, making old vets paddle back to the boat with their tails between their legs." -Tom "Burch. Burch. Burch. Man, I haven’t seen surfing like his in my 15 years of shooting. Just when you think he’s some cruiser on an old twin fin he’ll bust out his asymmetrical board and go fucking ballistic." -Tom "We Ubered. We surfed. We drank. We pissed some people off. But whatever we did, we did it right. Life’s short. Party on." -Tom

I really enjoy sharing the little miracles of life with them. To see the excitement of discovery put a sparkle in their eye fills my heart with joy. It's without a doubt the best thing that's ever happened to me. Bryan Iguchi was born and raised in Southern California. He grew up riding Snow Summit in the heat of snowboarding’s uprise, and was a key element to the progression of man-made snowboard parks. After his time in California, he packed up shop and escaped for the mountains, landing in beautiful Wyoming in a little place called Jackson Hole where he would find his ultimate paradise. Two decades later, Guch is considered the godfather of the Jackson Hole snowboard community and still an active player on the mountains today. He’s part of the "older" generation nowadays, but it's safe to say he snowboards twice as much as the younger up-and-comers due to his unconditional love for the sport. He was one of the first snowboarders added to the Volcom Stone team roster in 1991 and has become the foundation of what Volcom Snowboarding is today. Don’t push them in any direction, but always be there to support them. Always be positive and help shed light from above. As a youngster, Gavin Beschen grew up in Southern California in San Clemente, a strong, tight-knit surf community which houses the famous Lower, Trestles point break. Gavin's fluid and effortless style is one-of-a-kind, but he grew up admiring local San Clemente guys like Dino Andino, Matt Archbold, and the McNulty brothers for their raw power and humble support. After graduating high school in '94, Gavin spent a majority of his time on the North Shore of Oahu, and two years later found himself calling it his home. Now, twenty years later, and Gavin is still loving the paradise that he found, calling it "a piece of heaven," living his dream with his wife and young son. Gavin surfing near his home on the North Shore of Oahu *Watch new footage of Gavin surfing in Maui w/ more of the Volcom team HERE RUNE GLIFBERG Rune Glifberg, straight outta Copenhagen, Denmark, has been riding for Volcom ever since we can remember. A legend in the skate scene, Rune is a father first, to his two beautiful daughters, and an all-around great human.   OZZIE WRIGHT Ozzie on Fatherhood: Trying to be the best man you can be and leading by example says more than just telling your kids what to do all the time. Making sure you are healthy and you'll be coming home to them 'til they are old enough to look after themselves. Ozzie Wright: father, pro surfer, artist, musician, 100% rad dad hailing from Sydney, Australia needs no introduction (but here it comes anyway). A Volcom team rider since the 90's grunge era, Ozzie has been making a statement in the surf scene for years. Known for his air game and punk-rock-grunge-rock-whatever style, he paints everything he sees and sees everything to paint. Ozzie lives in Australia with his family which includes his two young children, who are both destined to be some type of artist, surfer, or musician... Watch Metal Neck 2 The Bangover + World Premiere Photo Recap!
Metal Neck 2 The Bangover is a total head shift! What's a Metal Neck? According to Andrew Doheny, “Metal Neck occurs when a person's head bangs so hard that your neck seizes up.” Whether or not you head bang that hard, this movie is guaranteed to make you try. You also might think this movie isn't your typical pre-surf warmup motivator, and you're absolutely right. It’s fresh, off its rocker, and we love it! Nobody is having as much fun as these guys, right?! Produced by Mr. Andrew “Droid” Doheny and Matt Tromberg, and featuring the debut of Volcom Little Buddy Cole Sandman, creative wizard Ozzie Wright, and Droid with a bunch of his rowdy friends.
