If you’ve been hiding under a rock the last week, you may have missed the party of all parties. So, we’re here to recap the epicness that was… BEER’A’DISE. In true Volcom style we left no stone unturned for our 30th Birthday. In celebration of three decades of surf, skate and snow, we teamed up with our mates at Young Henry’s to brew a collaboration pale ale. Did we mention it sold out in a day – you hooligans loved it as much as we did. We brought out Beer’a’dise merch with wickedly cool art from Jaime Brown and then we threw a kick ass party to say CHEERS to 30 years.
We woke the morning of our birthday with rain on the forecast… but you only turn the dirty thirty once and we certainly weren’t going to let anybody rain on our parade. The party barge began welcoming guests and by 3pm we were on our way towards Sydney Harbour, waving hello to the Harbour Bridge and our lady in white (Opera House) as we passed.
Just as we docked, the stars aligned, the skies dried up, and our Volcom team riders wasted no time taking turns on the floating halfpipe. Yes, you did read that right, a FLOATING half pipe. It was even said by some that the stone itself made an appearance on the ramp.
While the riders were thoroughly enjoying themselves, us party people were taking turns between dancing our faces off, drinking icy cold bevvies and watching all the madness that was ensuing right before our eager eyes.
Tell us more you say? Well, we had Young Henry’s providing FREE bevvies and Beach Burrito making sure we stayed fuelled to party through the night. The legends themselves - Froomes and Vaughan were hosting. There was live music everywhere you looked – private sets from Goons of Doom and Hockey Dad plus Ebony Boadu brought us home with a DJ set that had everyone goin’ bananas! One could easily say we were buzzing as we docked and headed to an after party at the iconic Frankie’s Pizza.
Since the hangover has now passed and we’re feeling our ripe age of 30, we’re able to successfully say – now that was a PARTY.
